Delegations from Ukraine and Russia finished their first talks at the Ukraine-Belarus border Monday, with an opening for future talks amid the conflict going into its sixth day.

On Kyiv’s list of demands were an immediate ceasefire and Russian withdrawal, while Russia’s demands were not made public. Officials from Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv said at least seven people were killed from Russian shelling. Negotiators from both countries will head back to their capital cities for consultations.
