Gopa Mahali is an accomplished legal professional with a focus on addressing pressing societal challenges. A UGC NET-qualified scholar, she has achieved notable academic success, completing her LL.M. with a commendable 70% from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and securing 74% in her B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from the West Bengal State University. Her expertise in combating human trafficking is demonstrated through her dissertation on the “Effective Implementation of Mutual Legal Assistance between India and Bangladesh to Combat Human Trafficking,” supervised by Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed. This research was rooted in empirical data collected from North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, reflecting her commitment to using legal frameworks for societal benefit. And is currently pursuing PhD from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS).
Gopa has gained substantial practical experience through internships, including working on public interest litigation (PIL) under Advocate Gaurav Singh Sachan in Delhi and handling cases involving sensitive sections of the IPC under Advocate Prathana Roy at the Kolkata High Court. Additionally, she collaborated with the International Justice Mission (IJM) and SANLAAP India to collect data on human trafficking.
Her academic pursuits extend to seminars and paper presentations, such as discussing demonetization’s impacts and exploring water privatization’s performance. Gopa’s technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, HTML, and DBMS complements her legal acumen, making her a versatile professional committed to addressing critical legal and social issues.
