Rs. Five thousand per month, depending on their contribution amount and age at the time of

APY is a contributory pension scheme, where the contributions are made by the
subscriber and matched by the government in the form of a co-contribution. The contribution
amount is fixed based on the subscriber’s age at the time of enrolment and the desired
pension amount. The contributions are made monthly and are auto debited from the
subscriber’s bank account. The scheme also provides an option for the subscriber to choose a
nominee who will receive the accumulated pension corpus in case of the subscriber’s death
before the age of 60 years.

APY has been successful in providing financial security to
millions of individuals in the unorganised sector who do not have access to any formal
pension schemes. The scheme has also been instrumental in promoting a culture of savings

conclusion, Atal Pension Yojana is a significant step by the Government of India toward
ensuring social security and financial stability for the unorganised sector workforce.

The scheme’s guaranteed monthly pension, fixed contribution amount, and auto-debit facility have made it accessible and attractive to a large section of the population, making it a crucial component of social security in India.
