Heartbroken to hear the devastating news of the fatalities in the West Bank on Friday. This heinous premeditated violence against a British-Israeli woman and her innocent children has caused widespread devastation throughout the region. The recent murders have shaken things up and reminded us all of the crazy chaos that exists in the world. On Friday, a gun attack in the West Bank that is believed to have been carried out by Palestinians resulted in the murder of two sisters, Rina and Maia, aged 15 and 20, respectively, and left their mother, Lucy Dee, aged 48, in a coma.
The attack took place in a neighbourhood that is considered to be a Jewish neighbourhood. On Monday, the unfortunate news that Lucy Dee had gone away was announced by the Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. The hospital said the information came “despite great and constant efforts.” Before the Dee family emigrated from the United Kingdom to Israel, Rabbi Leo Dee, Lucy Dee’s husband, had been active in the Jewish community of the United Kingdom as a rabbi. Funeral services for the two sisters were performed in the town of Kfar Etzion on the following day, Sunday.
During the memorial ceremony attended by thousands of mourners, Rabbi Dee offered eulogies for his daughters and acknowledged the family’s tremendous regret and agony in front of the congregation. They were on their way to a holiday with their family when shooters opened fire on them while driving through the Jordan Valley of the northern section of the West Bank. Lucy, Rina, and Maia were the three passengers in the vehicle. After their car had crashed, the attackers approached the wreckage and started shooting at the women inside from a relatively close range after they had already opened fire on the victims.
The Israeli police allegedly found 22 expended bullet casings, most likely from a Kalashnikov assault rifle. These accusations come from Israeli media sites. When Rabbi Dee’s sister called him to inform him about the event, he was already in a separate car and moving ahead of them. She called him to let him know what had happened. He tried calling his wife and daughters, but none answered when he did. Neither of his daughters answered the phone when he phoned. Following that, he saw a missed call from Maia during the period of the assault that he had been experiencing.
Another daughter who was with him at the time saw a photo on Instagram that had been published by the driver of a car that had passed the car that had been abused, and they identified one of their pieces of baggage that had been put in the back seat of the vehicle in the image. The driver of the car that had passed the automobile that had been assaulted had seen the picture and shared it on Instagram. The police and other emergency personnel were already there at the site of the attack when Rabbi Dee reached there.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) immediately started looking for individuals involved in the assault after the event, when tensions between Israel and Palestine were already rising. After learning of her untimely death, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, took to Twitter to convey his condolences to Lucy Dee’s family. Netanyahu said he was “heartbroken” by the news of Lucy Dee’s departure. The Jewish community in the United Kingdom was likewise left in shock and dismay after hearing the word of the deaths.
The congregation of the Radlett, United Synagogue in Hertfordshire, to which the Dees had belonged before their deaths, has declared that it is “devastated at the terrible news” of the couple’s dying away. The synagogue is located in the county of Hertfordshire. Another terrible event occurred in the West Bank on Monday as the rest of the world was still mourning the death of the Dee family. According to the Ministry of Health, a Palestinian youngster named Mohammad Fayaz Balhan , who was 15 years old, was severely injured and died of a headshot. The fatal wound occurred during an Israeli military operation in Jericho.
As a consequence of the Israeli fire, two more people got injuries to their lower limbs, and both were transported to a hospital for medical care. Israeli forces are said to have undertaken a raid on the Aqaba Jabr refugee camp, which resulted in confrontations with the residents of the areas around the centre, as stated by witnesses.
The Israeli military confirmed that their staff members were operating inside the camp, but they did not provide any other information or clarity. When the incident occurred, emotions were already running hot across the whole of Palestine as a result of the violent expulsion of worshippers from the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli police. The conflict that has been raging for decades between Israel and Palestine has been brought to light by the recent outbreak of violence in the West Bank.
This conflict has been going on between the two countries continuously. This long-running conflict calls for a peaceful resolution, particularly in light of the recent spike in violent crime and the tragic loss of the Dee sisters and their mother. All sides should get down and negotiate a solution that benefits everyone. It is very upsetting anytime there is a loss of life, but this is particularly true if innocent individuals are the ones who pass away. Loss of life in any form is a melancholy reminder of the tenuous nature of existence. This is particularly true when the world is still dealing with the aftermath of a global pandemic.
