On searching the internet about the possible reasons for breast cancer, we get a long list of causes. The concrete reasons behind breast cancer are still unknown. However, there is something that doctors and researchers claim can prevent breast cancer and that panacea is to exercise and break a sweat. Exercise according to experts is a sure-shot way to minimize the risk factors behind breast cancer. More than sixty per cent of studies indicate a reduction in chances of getting breast cancer by twenty to forty per cent with regular exercise.

RELATION BETWEEN BEING OVERWEIGHT AND BREAST CANCER

An overweight woman increases her chances of suffering from breast cancer. Studies indicate that for every ten years, a woman remains overweight, her risk of getting breast cancer increases by seven per cent. Starting an exercise routine at any age is beneficial for health but for those in their teens if exercising adequately can significantly lower the risk of breast cancer. Persons who shirk away from exercise should make an action plan to initially begin with thirty minutes of exercise. Such an exercise has to be of a moderate level for example brisk walking daily. A target can be set to indulge in brisk walking for four to five hours per week. For women to take out time for exercise from their arduous routine is quite challenging. Women play multiple roles in their lives. The role of being a caretaker to our family is perhaps the greatest role during which very often women forget to take care of  themselves. So, the onus to encourage women to exercise daily lies on the family as well so that a woman does not take her health for granted in this world of never-ending duties.

HOW TO MAKE EXERCISE PART OF OUR LIVES

A small degree of self-counselling is a prerequisite to making exercise part and parcel of our daily lives. A continuous self-reminder that our body needs exercise just like it needs other things like showering or eating food may work wonders in making exercise an essential part of our lives. It is important to commence exercise from a level that feels fun and offers recreation. Easy exercises can be taken up in starting few months. We can take a family member or a friend along with us to exercise. For making personalized exercise plans,  services by professionals can be taken. Such professionals can provide simple plans to make an exercise routine. There can be a blend of cardio exercises with exercises meant for enhancing flexibility and body strength. The exercise pattern after a few days needs to be altered to prevent the chances of boredom.

OTHER BENEFITS OF EXERCISE

Exercise has other benefits too apart from reducing our chances of getting breast cancer.  Exercise significantly lowers our stress levels making our body release happy hormones. The aggravated insulin levels in the body are also corrected. Our immune system works more efficiently once we start exercising. Metabolism of our body increases thereby leading to a  reduction in body fat once we make exercise a part of our life. Women after forty suffer from a reduction in bone density but exercise with proper diet help in maintaining bone strength and also building lean muscle mass. Blood pressure remains within the medical permissible limits with exercise and proper diet. A stark difference can easily be felt between energy levels on days when we exercise and days when we skip it. Quite several diseases like arthritis, cancer, and type 2 diabetes are preventable with regular exercise. So, there is quite a  long list of reasons to motivate us to exercise daily.

EXERCISE CAN REDUCE THE BREAST CANCER RECURRENCE POSSIBILITY

Researchers advise everyone to exercise but for breast cancer survivors, the advice is more stringent. A moderate level of exercise once breast cancer treatment is done is advisable to help women with the chances of disease recurrence, to live healthy and long lives. If a  woman is not fond of exercise, physical sports activities can be taken up like swimming,  cycling, etc. The governmental and non-governmental bodies along with family members need to motivate women to make exercise a part of their lives. Women need to fall in love with themselves or at least understand that if they fail to take care of themselves, there would not be anyone to take care of their loved ones. So, let’s take a pledge to exercise daily and encourage the women in our lives to spare some time from their routine to exercise.
